While the Boeng astronauts floated in space waiting for a ride home, on Earth we all “defied gravity” with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. A bunch of us got our own slice of space in the form of a major solar eclipse, and Bitcoin finally went “to the moon” and hit $100K.

Though the election year caused some arguments about coconut trees and pets being eaten, the fights we really cared about were Drake vs. Kendrick, and Jake Paul vs. every old guy who used to be a fighter. The good news is Disney gave us a good understanding of how to balance our emotions with the release of Inside Out 2.

Tik Tok still might get banned, someone drove a boat into the Baltimore bridge, and Luigi Mangione became the real life Joker. Oh, and Diddy became the most hated man in America (title previously held by Tom Sandoval in 2023.)

2024 winners included Jimmy Carter for making it to 100 years old (RIP), Caitlin Clark for being Time Magazine’s athlete of the year, and Raygun making her Paris Olympics debut (and likely swan song). Congrats to Kansas City for winning a Super Bowl, Boston who won an NBA Finals, and an honorable mention goes out to the “Hawk Tuah” lady for being famous for way longer than any of us expected.

2024 was a unique year to say the least. For me personally, 2024 was a year of growth for sure. We watched our two little ones grow closer while taking on their own challenges. Preschool became a thing, and with it came an ongoing biological war between the germs these kids send home with my son and our immune systems (anyone with kids totally gets this). We took on some more house projects, built a patio, continued to smoke tons of meat, and got some of those nifty permanent lights put on the house. Needless to say, it was a pretty cool year.

On the wedding front, we covered a lot of ground and worked with a lot of really great people. From the long summer days spent at farms to the late nights in the city, this year showcased just how unique of a place northeast Ohio is. On any given weekend, I would find myself walking through a vineyard, finding creative ways to light bars/nightclubs, or soaking in timeless architecture in historic buildings. What a gem northeast Ohio is, and I am super thankful to be in such a great place.

As amazing as all these places are, they would be nothing without the life our couples bring to them. 2024 showed me weddings through an interesting lens. As wedding photographers, we are all hyper-focused on our couples venturing out and creating something new. I am not sure if my age is showing or if it’s the fact that my family now includes two little ones, but 2024 sparked a deep interest for me in what that transition is like for everyone around our couples. Dads seeing daughters add another man into their life, moms seeing their sons love another woman, and the melding of siblings, extended families, and friends. Weddings are so much more than just 2 people committing to each other. It’s a big event for everyone involved with endless stories to tell through photos.

To all the couples who added us to their vendor team, the parents who gave me advice/insight on what its like to watch their kids get married, and all the wedding party members and guests who made the long days super enjoyable, thanks so much for making 2024 such an amazing year.

As we look forward to an unforgettable 2025, let’s take a look back at some great moments of our 2024 wedding season:
